What he essentially does is create giant fake replicas of chocolates (he also does candy, donuts, ice cream, etc. but mostly chocolate.)
I admit that I have a sort of obsession with replicas or representations of food. I love fake food, stickers of food, drawings of food, miniatures of food, and so on and so forth. I don't like these things in an obsessive "all I want to do is eat all the time" sort of way, I am just fascinated by realistic representations of these things because food is such a common thing that everyone is familiar with.
Food in itself is an art, whether through the process of making it, or it's presentation, so these sculptures of food are like art within art: double bonus. There is also something attractive about these representations of food in that they will last forever, whereas real food has a very short life span. He uses things like wood, plaster, and shellac to create works that look good enough to eat.
