Evocative object
When I was little, I vividly remember watching my mother get ready to go out for the evening, and now, because of these memories, I believe I have a fond love for these moments of evening preparation. Among things such as ever-so accurately applying her mascara, or carefully lifting her attire over her hair so as not to disturb the fresh curls, I recall her finishing her look with a tender dosage of perfume. She had a Jean Paul Gaultier scent in a bottle shaped as a woman's' bodice. She applied it to her left wrist and then rubbed it on her right and finally spritzed her hair and fluffed it once or twice. She wouldn't be ready to leave without this tradition. Since then, I have a love for collecting bottles of eau de perfume because they all seem to evoke femininity and care. My favorite item in my collection is a small vial of a Stella McCartney original fragrance. It resides on a tray with the others, and is solely used for special occasions. Partly because of its small size and partly because it makes its usage more meaningful. I always notice the purple tones embedded on the glass and the straight vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines that produce facets much like a diamond. It is elegant and classic and ironically so comforting at the same time because it reminds me of my mother.
