Drawing by Ben Parise

I define drawing as a way of using simple materials (pencil, pen, charcoal, paper) to sketch out an idea or as a way to quickly express emotion. Drawing is generally loose but can also be very precise and detailed. It is generally monochrome or has only a few colors unlike painting or other mediums that can have many different colors.
I enjoy drawing because I feel like I have more control and it is easier to fix mistakes. Its also faster and easier than other mediums. Its a good way to express ideas quickly or even just a feeling or emotion. I like drawing because i can do it almost anywhere without to much preparation.
Drawing serves me as way to be able to jot ideas down quickly and also as way to plan for more complex pieces. It also allows me to express ideas easier than other methods. Other mediums such as painting takes a lot more planning and time then just putting pencil on paper.
I believe that it serves others in similar ways although some people might use it in ways I have not explored.
Drawn Marks: lines, dots, curves, hatches, shading, scribbles
Types of Drawings: Loose sketches, doodles, detailed works, tight and precise, plans
