To many, drawing my simply be putting pen or pencil to paper and creating lines and various shapes. To me however, drawing represents a wide range of things varying from actual line created by a medium such as pen, pencil, paints, etc. or it could be a created by a 3D object such as four pencils glued to a piece of paper in the shape of a square. Drawing is such a broad term it really has no exact definition since everyone has a different interpretation of what it could be. In my opinion drawing makes up the basis of almost all works of art because even if you were to create an enormous sculpture 9 times out of 10 the artist would want to draw a rough sketch of what they would imagining first. Drawing is such an important part of art because it helps us to put the ideas we formulate in our minds to paper or any other surface for that matter. To me, drawing is present in my life on a daily basis (as I doodle in my notebooks in class or even sign a receipt at a restaurant). I consider writing to be a form of drawing because even though everyone does it... everyone has a different and unique handwriting which makes it art. Drawing has dated back to the beginning of time when cave men drew pictures of the wild buffalo on the walls of their cave, drawing has served as a form of communication through pictures for the Egyptians, before technology drawing was a way for the world to see something maybe others hadn't (such as doctors drawing images of body parts etc), no matter what you try to relate it to.. drawing has had an enormous impact on society and the world and will always remain that way.
